Musical & Spoken Word Legacy:

The Frank Walter Audio Project

Francis Archibald Wentworth Walter (1926–2009), known as Frank Walter, is one of the most prolific visual artists of the twentieth-and-twenty-first-century Caribbean.

The Frank Walter Musical and Spoken Word Legacy Project is being undertaken by the Walter family working with art historian Barbara Paca to provide listeners with the 468 hours of the artist’s recorded works. In this effort, they have cleaned and digitized the tapes, all of which were made by Frank Walter as a part of his wish to share his original musical compositions, poems, plays, operas, and prose with a larger audience.

The collection of audio tapes include magnetic tapes from Frank Walter’s time in Europe, the UK, and Dominica from 1955-1968; and also cassette tapes, recorded primarily from 1969-1996 whilst the artist lived in St. John’s, Antigua and on Bailey’s Hill.
